We are looking for the David Attenboroughs’ of human behaviour, designers who love finding out why people do the things they do and are a natural at presenting discoveries in ways that make people sit up and pay attention.
You’re obsessed with stories big and small, and love combining your interest in people and their needs with your ability to dream up new ways of gathering evidence, stories and data to present your findings.
We think you might be from a design consultancy, psychology, UX, CX or digital product company background and wondering “what’s next?”. You have been doing a form of human-centred design and implementation for 4-6 years and you’re curious about the opportunity to play a leading role on a multi-disciplinary design team driving innovation in the Singapore government.
The team you will be joining:
The Experience Strategy & Design (ESD) team was formed to help drive an ‘outside-in’ approach to the development of the next generation of government services. Made up of researchers, experience strategists, interaction designers, service and environment specialists, visual and content designers, the team leads user research, product conceptualisation and prototyping on key strategic initiatives for the Government Digital Services (GDS) group. Our model is to bring together domain & policy experts, data scientists, designers, product managers and engineers, to define the right problems to solve, identify opportunities to make an impact, and to experiment with bold and disruptive ideas.
What to expect:
At ESD, we believe that great research inspires great design. Our Design Researchers lead teams and stakeholders through a journey of human-centered research to discover insights, identify possible directions, and storytell new possibilities. They begin with a questioning mindset, looking not only to solve problems but to explore and reframe them.
We’re looking for researchers who are excited to get their hands dirty throughout the entire design process. You’ll be involved in everything from pushing the edges of how we recruit and engage participants, how we prototype experiences, to how to collaborate with data scientists to craft more compelling narratives.
We work in an extremely collaborative environment, alongside other teams of designers, developers, data scientists, domain experts and policy folks with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. It’s important that you are always engaging the outside world for inspiration, spotting opportunities for innovation and sharing what excites you with the broader community.
How to succeed:
Skills we are looking for:
We’d ideally like you to have some of what is listed below. We are not expecting you to be able to do it all. Just let us know which ones you’re really good at.
