Public Health England (PHE) Digital is looking for a motivated, experienced and knowledgeable content editor. We are looking for someone keen to influence change and support subject matter experts with content ownership, understanding user needs and writing for the web.
You will publish content for PHE, both internal and external, with a focus on user needs and digital best practice. Working with content editors, and internal and external stakeholders, you will:
develop an understanding of what our users need and how to meet their needs
make recommendations on digital products and content
develop and publishing the content
test and evaluate output
Youll be expected to write and edit to the style guide, and get the correct approvals for content.
Your first role will be to work on the PHEs content service. You will work with subject matter experts to maintain existing content, using evidence including page statistics and user feedback. Youll work closely with the other members of the content team to plan, prioritise and develop content.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential to this role. Youll need to be able to take complex language and topics, and make them simple to understand. Youll also need to be able to explain your decisions and edits clearly
Excellent interpersonal communication skills are also essential as youll need to build productive relationships with people who arent familiar with digital content development or writing in plain English, and coach them to produce good content.
With the rest of the team, you will lead a change within PHE to develop content based on what users need, and work in an agile way. Working with other content editors, youll deliver first rate results, working efficiently and following best practice, to ensure the digital products we develop meet the quality and standards expected by our stakeholders.
The post holder will have significant experience and knowledge of digital technologies and working in a digital environment, as well as proven content experience. You will be a self-starter and able to see an idea through to completion.
